Planned gun range 100 yards from elementary schools irks parents

Associated Press

Some parents in a southwestern Ohio city are in an uproar over plans to open an indoor gun range just 100 yards away from two elementary schools.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports (http://cin.ci/Ta9pBi) that the proposed gun range in Loveland is especially controversial in light of last week’s massacre at a Connecticut school that included the deaths of 20 children.

The range is proposed for what is now a vacant storefront near Loveland Primary School, which has about 500 students in the first and second grades, and Loveland Elementary School, which has about 700 third- and fourth-graders.

Concerned parents spoke out about the plan at a Loveland City Council meeting this week, but city leaders say the range is legally permitted at the proposed site.

Some schools do have shooting teams.

I learned to shoot in the Boy Scouts and we had a rifle standing in the corner of the kitchen when we grew up. It was always loaded for when that coyote came looking for our chickens. No one ever touched that gun except our dad.

Now, we have so many whacko's and gangs running around with guns, they are ruining it for all of us. Of course, the gangs and the whacko's are a result of our liberal society. And now, they are blaming the NRA for it.

Maybe blah is right ... maybe "shooting" should become a required class.

I'm going to keep asking this until one of you anti gun wackos answer it. How many of the thugs and criminals are going to turn in their guns if they are banned?

I thought the Cincinnati area was the "red" part of the state - how can those "righties" be so against a legal business that happens to involve guns?? Didn't they talk things over with their patron saint, King John? They're against many things he purports to be for. They should be worried that he'll take their gasoline tax money away from them, too, and keep it all for himself.
