Youngstown man pleads guilty to abduction, assault at YSU
YOUNGSTOWN — A 27-year-old man has pleaded guilty to abduction of, and assault on, his former girlfriend Aug. 30 after convincing her to enter a car for a conversation on the Youngstown State University campus.
Jose Antonio Velazquez, whose last known address was on Woodbine Avenue, entered his guilty plea to those charges today before Judge Lou A. D’Apolito of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, who will sentence him at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 23.
Nicholas Brevetta, an assistant county prosecutor, said he and the defense have agreed on a two-year prison term for Velazquez, which will be nonappealable if the judge adopts it. The prosecution dismissed a kidnapping charge in the plea deal.
