Conference: Inter Tri-County League Tier One.

2011-12 record: 15-7.

Head coach: Herman Miller, fourth season, 35-29 (115-98 overall).

Projected starters: Collin Gilbert, junior, guard, 5-10, 7 points; Austin Eskra, senior, guard, 6-3, 3; Robert Logan, junior, forward, 6-3, 6; Evan Nentwick, senior, guard, 5-11; Derek Bable, senior, center, 6-4, 3.

Other varsity players: Nick Gates, senior, guard, 5-7; Andrew Batchelor, senior, guard, 5-10; Josh McDade, junior, forward, 6-2; Greg bable, junior, forward, 6-1; Enzo Lucci, junior, guard, 5-11.

Team’s outlook: Miller says the Rebels’ newcomers are from last year’s undefeated junior varsity squad. Among their strengths, Miller says, are good team size, team speed and depth.

League prediction: Miller says defending champion Springfield is the league favorite while his team and Mineral Ridge return the most varsity experience.


Conference: Inter Tri-County League Tier One.

2011-12 record: 12-10.

Head coach: Tom Bingham, 16th season, 217-133.

Projected starters: Austen Reiser, senior, wing/post, 6-4, 10.4. points; Nate Keylor, senior, point guard, 5-10.

Other varsity players: Zack Nay Robb, junior, wing, 5-10; Alec Dumbauld, junior, 5-11, point guard, 5-11; Steve Parker, junior, post, 6-3; Bill Bibby, junior, wing, 5-10; Justin Fristik, junior, wing, 5-11; Nick Monteleone, sophomore, wing-post, 6-0; Phil Fusetti, junior, post, 6-3.

Team’s outlook: Bingham has one starter returning. He says the Bulldogs have shown a willingness to work hard.

League prediction: Bingham says Crestview is the clear favorite to win the Tier One crown.


Conference: Inter Tri-County League Tier One.

2011-12 record: 13-9.

Head coach: Gary Nagy, second season, 13-9.

Projected starters: Chris Dolin, junior, forward, 6-2, 3.2 points; Jeremy Fitzpatrick, junior, forward, 6-1; Brandon Mitchell, senior, center, 6-2; Chuckie Anderson, senior, guard, 5-6; Jake McAdams, junior, guard, 5-10.

Other varsity players: Tyler Totani, sophomore, forward, 5-10; Alex Thornburg, sophomore, guard, 5-8; Nate Kramer, sophomore, guard, 5-10.

Team’s outlook: Moving up to Tier One after being league champions last season, Nagy says the Bluejays are “extremely young and very inexperienced. He says three potential starters were not in the program last season.


Conference: Inter Tri-County League Tier One.

2011-12 record: 11-10.

Head coach: Chris Huckshold, fourth season, 25-40.

Projected starters: Matt Spencer, junior, forward, 6-3; Corey Brammer, senior, guard, 6-1; Austin Rutecki, freshman, guard, 6-2; Josh Craig, freshman, guard, 6-3; Josh Liberati, freshman, guard, 5-9.

Other varsity players: Eric Walker, junior, guard, 6-0; Avery Andric, freshman, guard, 6-0.

Team’s outlook: Huckshold says inexperience will be an issue for the Blue Devils — four of their top seven players are freshmen. Spencer is the lone returning starter.

League prediction: Huckshold says Crestview will be the league’s frontrunner because of a lot of returning players. He expects Springfield and Mineral Ridge to finish near the top.


Conference: Inter Tri-County League Tier One.

2011-12 record: 7-15.

Head coach: Chris Kohl, first season, 47-43 overall.

Projected starters: Corey Phillips, sophomore, guard, 6-0; Nate Palmer, junior, guard, 6-0; Zac Hagy, junior, forward, 6-3; Brandon Perkins, junior, forward, 6-2; Ryan Nutter, junior, center, 6-6.

Other varsity players: Pierce Rassega, senior, guard, 5-11; Nick Ferguson, sophomore, guard, 5-9; Mike Eaton, junior, guard, 5-9; Jake Fowler, junior, forward, 6-1; Ethan Dukes, junior, forward, 6-2; Zane Rummell, freshman, forward, 6-2.

Team’s outlook: Kohl takes over after several seasons at Mooney. He has one senior so growing pains are expected as his younger players adjust to the varsity level.

League prediction: Kohl sees Crestview and Springfield as being the league’s top teams, with South Range and East Palestine battling for third.


Conference: Inter Tri-County League Tier One.

2011-12 record: 17-5, 12-2.

Head coach: Dave Purins, seventh season, 70-58.

Projected starters: Tyler Beverly, senior, center, 6-4, 5.4 points; Mason Miller, senior, guard, 5-11; Jake Arsuffi, senior, guard, 5-10; Jake Pfeifer, senior, guard, 5-7; Cole Krumpak, senior, forward, 5-11.

Other varsity players: Robby Seman, senior, guard, 5-10; Garrett Anderson, sophomore, 5-11.

Team’s outlook: Purins said the Raiders will rely on their six seniors and their ability to “defend with intensity.” Concerns are a lack of varsity experience plus the loss of three players including letterman Ross Stoffer due to surgery after injuries in the fall.

League prediction: Purins said defending champion Springfield will be tough and said Crestview and East Palestine will be challengers.


Conference: Inter Tri-County League Tier One.

2011-12 record: 21-3.

Head coach: Eric Fender, fourth season, 44-21.

Projected starters: Eoghan Bees, senior, guard; 10 points; Alex Wharry, senior, guard, 2; Jared McTigue, senior, forward, 8; Mark Schuler, sophomore, forward.

Other varsity players: Joe Wrask, junior, guard/forward; Jake Ohlen, junior, guard; Anthony Scandy, junior, guard; Brandon Chamberlain, sophomore, guard/forward; Hunter Snyder, sophomore, guard; Nate Simboli, sophomore, guard.

Team’s outlook: Fender says the Tigers must regroup after losing five seniors to graduation, making inexperience a concern.

League prediction: Fender sees Mineral Ridge as being the surprise team of this year’s league race. He also expects Crestview and East Palestine to be crown contenders.


Conference: Inter Tri-County League Tier One.

2011-12 record: 1-20.

Head coach: Matt Mowery, second season, 1-20.

Projected starters: Garrett Beech, junior, guard, 5-10; Caleb Conser, junior, guard, 5-11; Brandon Miller, junior, guard, 5-8; Paul Faulkner, senior, forward, 6-0.

Other varsity players: Nick Althouse, senior, guard, 5-11; Tyler Plummer, senior, forward, 6-2; Jared Powell, senior, forward, 6-1; Devin Minard, junior, guard/forward, 6-0; Braden Davison, sophomore, guard, 6-0; Cody Dickens, sophomore, guard, 5-10; Andrew Martin, sophomore, guard, 5-11.

Team’s outlook: Mowery says the team’s lack of height is a concern. He says the Eagles will be tested early with three games against teams from the Northeastern Buckeye Conference plus Beaver Local. Six of their first eight games are on the road.

League prediction: Mowery expects Springfield and Crestview to be the league’s top teams, with Mineral Ridge showing improvement.
