Sentencing due for woman who left baby in box

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A woman who abandoned her newborn daughter on a Philadelphia sidewalk just before Christmas last year is due in court for sentencing.

Patricia Crawley is scheduled for sentencing today for abandoning the child in a cardboard box while high on crack cocaine.

Crawley was convicted in October of endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault and reckless endangerment but was found not guilty of the more serious charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault.

A custodian found the baby Dec. 21, 2011, near a pile of trash outside a day care center. The baby was dubbed “Baby Noel” due the time she was found.

The child was put in foster care.

@NoBS - The "anti-choice" people don't say that at all. Abortion isn't birth control. She had a lot of choices before this point, which shows she doesn't have good judgement long before this. She could just as easily have handed the baby over to someone at the police or fire department. Instead, she chose drugs over her own child's life.
