Car stolen in Youngstown with pot-bellied pig inside

YOUNGSTOWN — Police recovered a stolen vehicle with a pot-belly pig in the back seat on Monday.

According to reports, police said they received a call for an abandoned vehicle at the 100 block of West Myrtle Avenue on the South Side around 1:30 p.m.

Officers said the 2011 Nissan Cube was parked perpendicular to the roadway with both air bags deployed, two flat tires and heavy damage to the front end. The police also found a 250-pound pot-belly pig named “Penelope” in vehicle’s back seat.

Officers had the car towed with the pig inside the report said.

The Pennsylvania owner was contacted and said she was visiting a friend living on Mabel Street. The pig’s owner said she did notice the vehicle missing but thought the “kids took it.”

Police said the humane agent was contacted, and they are looking for suspects.
