Weathersfield Twp. gets flooding abatement grant

Staff report

Weathersfield Township trustees accepted a grant of $92,674 from the Ohio Public Works Commission for the Oakview Drive Storm Water Drainage Upgrade.

The project’s total cost will be $134,310, with a 31 percent local share of $41,636.

The project focuses on Oakview Drive in Oakview Manor, where all the streets run off of Salt Springs Road and end on Oakview.

Water runoff on Oakview Drive results in flooding on the street, trustee Chairman Steve Gerberry said Thursday, and excess drainage on yards, the road and some flooding in a few homes.

Trustees also moved to enter into a memorandum of understanding with the Trumbull County Engineer’s Office for the Township Assistance Program, which will give the Weathersfield help for road work.

The program allows the township to do things such as borrow equipment it does not have from the engineer’s office and have the office do some engineering design work on some projects.

The township also buys some salt and aggregate mix from the county.
