The “Peace Light” consisting of the flame from the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem is scheduled to arrive between 9:30 and 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Greater Western Reserve Council of the Boy Scouts of America, 4930 Enterprise Blvd. NW.
Local residents may bring their own candles or lanterns to the Boy Scout office during business hours through Dec. 21 to receive the flame for their churches and homes as a symbol of peace.
In an annual ritual, the flame was taken Nov. 27 from one of the oil lamps, which have burned continuously for more than 1,000 years at the Bethlehem church, which marks the birthplace of Christ, and flown to Vienna, Austria.
From there, it will be distributed throughout Europe. It will be flown to New York on Monday for U.S. distribution.
