Lady Antebellum singer is expecting

NASHVILLE, Tenn.

Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott is expecting.

Scott announced her pregnancy Friday on Twitter, calling the baby “our Christmas gift.” A spokeswoman confirmed the news and said no other details were available.

It’s the first child for the 26-year-old “Need You Now” singer and her husband, Chris Tyrrell. It’s also the first child for the trio, which includes Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood.

Scott traveled to Las Vegas on Friday where the band will attend Monday’s American Country Awards.

Lupus forces Braxton into LA hospital

LOS ANGELES

Singer Toni Braxton has been hospitalized in LA.

The R&B performer said in a Tweet on Friday that she’s been hospitalized because of “minor health issues” related to lupus. A spokeswoman confirmed the hospitalization. “But no worries!,” Braxton wrote to fans. “I will be out any day now.”

The 45-year-old singer of “Un-break My Heart” revealed two years ago she has lupus, a potentially deadly autoimmune disease that killed her uncle. She also suffers from a narrowing of the blood vessels in her heart.

Braxton said in a “20/20” interview that doctors told her the lupus diagnosis meant her performing career likely would be diminished, and the disease helped push her into a recent bankruptcy.

W.Va. senator to MTV: Cancel ‘Buck Wild’

CHARLESTON, W.VA.

U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin is asking MTV to cancel the West Virginia-based reality show “Buck Wild” that’s set to air next year.

Manchin’s office said Friday that he sent a letter to the president of the network saying the show profits off of “poor decisions of our youth.”

The senator also said the show set to begin airing Jan. 3 plays to ugly, inaccurate stereotypes about the people of his home state.

MTV ordered 12 episodes last fall, and a trailer shows the cast drinking, swearing, four-wheeling, fighting and filling a dump truck with water and using it as a swimming pool. It was shot in Sissonville and Charleston.

MTV did not comment.
