71st Pearl Harbor remembrance set
Lt. Frederick Kahn VFW Post 1423 will conduct its 71st Pearl Harbor remembrance Mass at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave.
Veterans organizations are asked to assemble with their colors at 10 a.m. in the church hall, where refreshments will be served after the Mass.
The service is in remembrance of the Dec. 7, 1941, Japanese attack on the Naval base at Pearl Harbor, which drew the United States into World War II and caused President Franklin D. Roosevelt to proclaim that the attack was “a day which will live in infamy.”
Post 1423 invites the public and veterans to the remembrance, said John E. Malys, Post 1423 quartermaster.
The Mahoning County Engineer’s Office said Herbert Road between state Route 46 and Turner Road in Canfield will be closing for a culvert replacement.
The road will be closed from Wednesday to Dec. 19. Traffic will be detoured along Turner Road, Palmyra Road, and U.S. Route 224 and state Route 46. For questions, contact the Traffic Engineering Office at 330-270-4674.
