Seamus Malone scored two goals as the Dubuque Fighting Saints snapped the Youngstown Phantoms’ four-game winning streak with a 5-1 victory on Friday.

It’s the second time this season that Dubuque stopped Youngstown on a four-game streak.

First-period goals by Eric Freschi and Evan Janssen gave the Saints the early lead.

Malone’s first goal came 4:45 into the second period.

Alexander Dahl scored the Phantoms’ goal with an assist from John Padulo to slice the Saints’ lead to 3-1.

But John Stevens responded with a power-play goal with 3:04 remaining in the second period for a three-goal edge.

Malone’s second goal came a little more than five minutes into the third period.

Phantoms goaltender Sean Romeo’s shutout streak was stopped at two games. Romeo stopped 31 shots in the Phantoms’ first game in 13 days.
