Choffin seeks donations for mitten-tree project

Published: Sat, December 8, 2012 @ 12:00 a.m.

Staff report

Youngstown

In keeping with the spirit of Christmas, “It is better to give than to receive,” Choffin Career and Technical Center is inviting the public to join in a special project.

The Business Management Tech Prep program is collecting new children’s mittens or gloves as well as hats and scarves.

These mittens and gloves will be donated to the Mahoning County Children Services Board, which will distribute them to children in the area.

For the past 31 years, Choffin has donated more than 6,500 items.

With help from the community, school students, faculty and staff want to continue the tradition of generous giving and hope to reach a goal of donating a total of 7,000 items.

Monetary donations also can be made toward the purchase of these items. To do so, call 330-744-8759.

Donations will be accepted until Friday.

The tree is displayed on the second floor of the career center.
