West Boulevard Elementary School offered a sweet treat for students who earned a Sundaes with Cervello Day. In order to participate in one of these days, a student must be awarded the Spartan Character Award from a teacher at the school.
Spartan Character Awards can be earned in many ways, including showing respect to teachers and adults, helping people who need it, even if it does not benefit you, and doing what is right. If a student earns this award, they get to enjoy a cold yogurt sundae, courtesy of West Boulevard Principal Alphonse Cervello.
“Do you know why you are here?” Cervello asked students. “You have done something good and if you continue to do good things and behave in good ways, you can keep coming for sundaes every time.”
With Frank Sinatra Christmas music playing in the background, students lined up to receive their frozen yogurt with the option of mini Hershey’s kisses, chocolate syrup and whipped cream. Students ate their sundaes with small wooden spoons because that was how Cervello enjoyed them as a child.
Students continued to show their good behavior by saying “please” and “thank you” during and after the event.
