St. Joseph Immaculate Heart of Mary School students participated in the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County’s summer efforts to promote literacy.

This past summer the public library program “Dream Big … Read” resulted in 3,735 children reading books for a total of 25,259 hours.

The students from SJIHM who participated and whose parents gave permission to have their names released were recognized at the school during a November assembly.

“In encouraging our children to read, we at SJIHM hope they will grow into better readers, consequently becoming more successful students,“ said SJIHM English teacher Caroline Mulhall.
