Frank Ohl Intermediate School hosted the first of its Scholastic book fairs Nov. 19 where students had the opportunity to be introduced to and buy school-approved, age-appropriate books straight from the source and raise funds for their PTA at the same time.
PTA member Margie Hynes chaired the book fair this year and had a lot of support from both volunteers and the Scholastic company.
“Scholastic makes the book fairs so easy. They provide the books, posters, displays — all of it. It’s just a great, easy fundraiser,” Hynes said.
Books were not the only items for sale at the book fair. A variety of fun pens, bookmarks, erasers, keychains and posters were also available for sale.
The book fair lasted two days, going through parent-teacher conferences the following evening. Any student who happened to forget their money or saw something they wanted but did not have enough money, would be able to return either during their recess or conferences to complete their purchases.
Frank Ohl Intermediate School PTA, in partnership with Scholastic, Inc., hosts a book fair twice a year.
