Outlook: The Clippers are experienced and deep. They plan to compete every night and should improve deeper into the season.

Coach: Eric Whitmer, first season.

Projected starters: Ian Sevenich, senior; Brandon Dattilio, senior; Luke Janci, senior; Cody Valentine, senior; Trent Ferry, sophomore.

Other players: Drew Turney, sophomore; James Shea, junior; Austin Rhodes, junior; Shane Rhodes, freshman; Zack Van Giesen, junior.

Outlook: Whitmer has a successful history of leading teams in Columbiana County. He’ll look to rebuild the Bears with underclassmen Trent Ferry leading the offense.


Conference: Inter-Tri County League Lower Tier Two.

2011-12: 10-12.

Coach: Michael Mangine, 10th year, 85-108.

Projected Starters: Nick Ballone, junior, 6-0; Pat Mangine, junior, 6-0; J.T. Hvisdak, senior, 6-0; Spiro Schialdone, junior, 5-10; Paulo DePasquale, sophomore, 6-0.

Other players: Drew McLaughlin, senior, 5-11; David Wilaj, senior, 5-10; Marcus Rivera, senior, 5-10; Geno Moore, senior; Phil Alfano, junior, 6-0.

Outlook: Lowellville is a fast team with a hard work ethic. They run 10 deep and expect bench scorers to step up.

League projection: Mangine projects Southern at the top of the conference with Wellsville, McDonald and his Rockets following.


Conference: Inter-Tri County League Tier Two.

2011-12 record: 11-10.

Coach: Tim King, 20th season, 246-201.

Projected starters: Tim Cooper, senior, 6-1; Peyton Snyder, senior, 6-1; Dalton Korda, senior, 6-1; Nolan Snyder, sophomore, 6-1; Nick Tobin, junior, 6-2.

Other players: Cole Smith, senior, 5-9; Joe Wisinizwski, junior, 6-3; Joe Falasca, sophomore, 6-4.

Outlook: The Blue Devils have a lot of questions entering the season. They’ll need to find a go-to scorer and develop depth. The seniors have been through the system their whole careers and will rely on size and athleticism.

League projection: King lists Wellsville, McDonald and Southern as the league’s top three. “Lowellville is my dark horse,” he says. “They rest of the league must play their best to compete with these four teams.”
