Youngstown’s Clement Franklin will be the co-main event boxer when Lights Out Management presents its ”Turn on the Christmas Lights for Area Families and Children,” an amateur holiday boxing show Saturday at St. Lucy’s Palermo Center.

The 14-bout card will showcase five local boxers and will feature up-and-coming boxers from Steubenville, Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

Proceeds are earmarked for Youngstown’s Sojourner House and Warren’s Someplace Safe; both protected shelters for battered mothers and children.

Area boxers slated for action include Tyler Smith and Miguel Acevedo from Tom Kordell and Larry Filer’s Downtown Gym, and Franklin, Angel Rojas and Soriano “Cincinnati” Clay who will represent Sammy Calderone’s United City Boxing Club.

The main event will pit Cleveland’s Thomas Mattisse against C.C. Clark of Pittsburgh in a 152-pound pairing.

Pittsburgh’s Mike Shook will take on Cleveland’s Marlon Steen in a super heavyweight battle while Myron Blackmon of Cleveland and Pittsburgh’s Isaiah Guy will hook-up in a 90-pound scrap.

Franklin is set to take on Pittsburgh’s Gerell Brackett in a 175-pound pairing.

Rojas will meet Hunter Matthews of Pittsburgh (165 pounds) and Clay is scheduled to square off against Pittsburgh’s Mike Manna in a heavyweight battle.

Smith will meet Steubenville’s Glenn Mitchell in a 140-pound pairing and Acevedo is set to take on Cleveland’s George Hilgert in a 152-pound scrap.

The other super heavyweight bout will pit Steubenville’s Angelo Magnone against Cleveland’s John McNeal while the four remaining bouts are all-Cleveland pairings.

Celebrity and guest ticket takers include WBU lightweight champion Jake “The Bull” Giuriceo (16-1-1, 3 KO’s) and Mahoning County commissioners Carol Rimedio-Righetti, John McNally and Anthony Traficanti.

Tickets cost $15 with tables available for both $400 and $250.

Ticket outlets include Clemens Wine Cellar, Banner Supply, Groover Roofing, Patsy’s Bar, ITAM 30 and Jensen Lock & Alarm

Further information can be obtained by calling Mike Cefalde (330-787-4228) or Tom Kordell (330-717-4201).
