Warren man convicted of charges involving minors sent to prison
A Warren man convicted of 48 counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving minors will spend four years in prison.
Judge Lou D’Apolito of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court sentenced Joshua Platek, 19, of Kings Drive, this week. Platek also must register as a sex offender for 25 years.
Austintown Detective Sgt. Jordan Yacovone, who investigated the case, said that Platek’s computer got a virus and crashed. Platek took the computer to Team Office in the township for repair.
While working on the computer, technicians at the store found 48 downloaded images of young children and called police.
The images were downloaded between August and October 2011. Platek was indicted last April and ordered not to have contact with juvenules.
He pleaded guilty to the charges last October.
