First of 4 involved in East Side shootout to be arraigned

Published: Wed, December 5, 2012 @ 10:35 p.m.

YOUNGSTOWN

One of the four men police say was involved in a shootout at an East Side convenience store will be arraigned Thursday, Police Chief Rod Foley says.

At least 10 shots were fired Tuesday afternoon by three or four men in the Lansdowne Red & White Super Market with at least a half-dozen people inside the Lansdowne Boulevard store at the time, Foley said. No one was shot, he said.

After being identified by witnesses as one of the shooters, police picked up Reuben L. Williams, 32, of Jacobs Road in Youngstown Wednesday afternoon.

He was charged in connection with a Friday aggravated robbery of a 23-year-old Struthers woman near the store.

Charges, including felonious assault for the shootout, will be filed at today’s arraignment, Foley said.

The motive for the shootout was likely related to either “fallout” or “retaliation” over Friday’s robbery, Foley said.

Police are asking those with information about any of these crimes to contact the department’s anonymous tip-line at 330-747-7911.
