Conference: Inter Tri-County League Tier Two

2011-12 record: 6-15

Head coach: Ron Moschella, first year (31 years, 546 wins at Boardman).

Projected starters: Kylea Fullom, senior, 5-9, 15.1 points; Megan Cutlip, senior, 5-9, 6.8 points, Bri Ginger, junior, 5-7, 3.1 points; Lindsey Roncone, senior, 5-4; Bailey Mook, sophomore, 5-4, 3.1 points.

Other varsity players: Aleah Whitacre, junior, 5-10; Emily Witmer, sophomore, 5-8; Lauren Schlueter, sophomore, 5-8; Elise Hammond, freshman, 5-2.

Team’s outlook: Columbiana’s strengths include experience, athleticism, team chemistry and rebounding. The Clippers are working at establishing an inside presence, transitioning from defense to offense and learning how to win.

League prediction: Lowellville, Western Reserve and Wellsville are the league’s favorites.


Conference: Inter Tri-County League Tier Two

2011-12 record: 4-17

Head coach: Kelly Paxson, seventh year, 54-77.

Projected starters: Kinzie Smith, senior, 5-3, PG, 6.8 points; Delaney Gardner, senior, 5-4, guard, 4.3 points; Bethany Basich, senior, 5-5, G; Nicole Mann, senior, 5-9, F, 6.6 points; Emily Schneider, junior, 5-6, F.

Other varsity players: Haley Scoville, junior, 5-7, F, 3.8 points; Mara Newton, junior, 5-3, G; Autumn Champney, junior, 5-6, F; Maddie Penfold, sophomore, 5-2, PG.

Team’s outlook: The Bears have thre starters back and have shown a lot of growth over the past yar. Offensively they look to be disciplined and wait for the best shot, not take the first available shot. Defensively, Leetonia hopes to take pressure off the offense by making big plays.

League prediction: Lowellville and Columbiana are expected to be the teams to beat in a competitive race, with Western Reserve a team that cannot be overlooked.


Conference: Inter Tri-County League Tier Two

2011-12 record: 6-15

Head coach: Cory Leek, third year, 14-28.

Projected starters: Kati Hipsley, senior, 5-6, G, 9 points; Beckah Phillis junikor, 5-8, G, 4 points; Natalie utt, freshman, 5-7, G; Rachel Coil, senior, 6-0, F, 10 points; Brittany Weber, sophomore, 6-0, F.

Other varsity players: Sarah Phillis, sophomore, 5-7, G; Lisa Higgins, senior, 5-4, G; Emily Jenkins, senior, 5-9, F; Susan Bratt, senior, 5-10, F.

Team’s outlook: The Indians are experienced at the guard position and have good size inside. As the season plays out, Southern is expected to finish in the top half of the league.

League prediction: Lowellville and Columbiana are the favorites with the rest of the league fairly equal. Southern will battle Western Reserve and McDonald for a position in the top half of the standings.


Conference: Inter Tri-County League Tier Two

2011-12 record: 20-4.

Head coach: Josh Scott, fourth season, 70-21.

Projected starters: April Lude, senior, G, 5-6; Paige Ewing, junior, G, 5-7; Tory White, sophomore, G, 5-7; Linley Mamois, senior, F, 5-10; Rachel Maslack, sophomore, F, 5-9.

Other varsity players: Lauren Falasca, freshman, G; Taylor Kilbert, junior, F; Gabby Stubbs, junior, F; Baylee Harley, sophomore, G; Bethany Burges, junior, G; Maddie Kreitzburg, freshman, G; Marissa Phipps, sophomore, G; Emily Henderson, sophomore, G; Abby Larimer, senior, F.

Team’s outlook: Scott says the Blue Devils are experienced compared to recent seasons. He said his players enjoy being treated as underdogs “because it motivates our kids to prove everybody wrong.”

League prediction: Scott sees Columbiana and Lowellville as the ITCL Tier Two favorites.
