WARREN

Two people were hit by gunfire in two Sunday incidents, and four other people were robbed at gunpoint in two other weekend crimes.

One shooting took place at 5:20 a.m. Sunday on Oak Circle Southwest.

A 68-year-old Ford Avenue Northwest man went to the Warren Police station, where he reported having been shot by an Oak Circle man, Curtis L. Dorsey, 38.

The victim was taken to St. Joseph Health Center by ambulance and released the same day.

Police were notified of a shooting at Dorsey’s house, and officers questioned Dorsey and a 51-year-old woman.

The woman told police she and the victim had been riding around in a car together, but she got out of the car on Oak Circle because they had been arguing.

The woman said she went to Dorsey’s house, talked to him, then heard gunshots.

A Warren police officer found spent bullet casings in Dorsey’s driveway, then detained Dorsey and the woman for questioning.

Dorsey was arraigned Monday in Warren Municipal Court on charges of felonious assault and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Innocent pleas were entered for him, and he remains in Trumbull County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.

If convicted, he could get more than 10 years in prison.

In the other shooting, a 48-year-old Risher Road Southwest man reported being shot in the leg while inside the Powerhouse Bar, 999 Mahoning Ave., at 10:08 p.m. Sunday.

The victim was taken by ambulance to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital after police found him in the bar’s parking lot screaming. He told police the name of the person who shot him.

The victim said the suspect approached him in the bar and asked if the victim knew him. The victim said he did not.

The suspect then head-butted the victim and shot him in the left leg just above the knee.

The victim remained at Trumbull Memorial on Monday, but his condition was not available.

An 18-year-old Kinsman Street Northwest man reported an armed robbery at 12:20 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Kinsman Street Northwest.

The victim said two cell-phones and $60 in cash were stolen from him at gunpoint, and the suspect fled in a vehicle.

At 1:43 a.m., police recovered the vehicle and arrested Shawn Higgins, 19, of Perkinswood Boulevard SE. Higgins entered an innocent plea Monday in Warren Municipal Court to a misdemeanor receiving stolen property charge and was released after posting $1,000 bond.

The second armed robbery occurred at 3:15 a.m. Monday in the 2300 block of Plaza Drive Northeast.

Three men were playing video games in the living room when two men with coverings on their faces entered through the door brandishing a handgun and an unknown metal object.

One of the men said he was struck in the head with the metal object.

The intruders took a Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 game system and $1,500.
