Ohio gives money to Valley organizations to help the homeless
COLUMBUS — State Sen. Joe Schiavoni of Boardman, D-33rd, on Monday announced that the State Controlling Board released more than $500,000 from the Office of Community Development to the Mahoning Valley to assist local nonprofit and local government agencies prevent homelessness.
Catholic Charities Regional Agency and the Greater Warren-Youngstown Area Urban League will receive $234,000 and $190,000, respectively, from the Ohio Housing Trust Fund Homeless Crisis Response Program to assist homelessness prevention.
The Supportive Housing Program will also disburse $108,000 and $108,500 to the Beatitude House and YWCA of Youngstown, respectively, to
assist with transitional housing.
Additionally, Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning County will receive funding from the OHTF Discretionary Grant Program to construct or rehabilitate 20 single-family homes.
