YOUNGSTOWN: Cardinal’s Nest Christmas Open House and Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, 3:15 to 6:15 p.m., Cardinal Mooney High School, 2545 Erie St. Christmas carols at 5:15, Father DiLucia will host a prayer service at 6:15, with tree lighting and refreshments to follow.

YOUNGSTOWN: Stambaugh Youth Concert Band, 7:30 p.m., Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave.


GREENVILLE, PA.: The UPMC Horizon Greenville Auxiliary’s Memories in Lights at 5:30 p.m. with the lighting of the tree in the Garden of Life, refreshments and entertainment. Light sponsorships available for $7 each. To hang a personalized angel on the tree to honor or remember a loved one, arrive at 5.

LEETONIA: At 6 p.m. the train rolls in for children at Leetonia Public Library, 181 Walnut St. Attend dressed in pajamas and enjoy crafts, snacks and more. Call 330-427-6635 to register.

COLUMBIANA: Holiday evening filled with stories, songs and a visit from Santa at 6:30 p.m. at Columbiana Public Library, 332 N. Middle St. for children 2 to 6 and their families. Children are encouraged to attend in their favorite pajamas. Free; 330-482-5509.


GIRARD: A Winterfest Dance will be at Mahoning Country Club, 710 E. Liberty St. SE, for all high school-aged special-needs students in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties. No cost but reservations needed; Semi-formal attire is requested. No sweatpants, jeans, shorts, school uniforms or tennis shoes, unless medically necessary. Drop off students between 4:30 and 5 p.m.; dinner from 5 to 6; dancing and crowning of Snow Prince and Princess from 6 to 8:30. No parents permitted between 5 and 8:15. There will be chaperones, security and student helpers. COLUMBIANA: Joy of Christmas Light Display Senior Night, 6 to 9 p.m., Firestone Park. Admission to light show will be lowered to $5 if there is a senior citizen aged 55 and over in your vehicle. A free gift will also be given to each senior. The show runs every Thursday through Sunday through Christmas night. Regular admission is $8 per car.

CANFIELD: Canfield Operation Blessing is collecting new or gently used toys for local children. Drop off your donations at Canfield Presbyterian Church, 140 W. Main St. by Dec. 19. Parents may select a toy from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 20 at the church.

LEETONIA: “Read for Santa” program at Leetonia Community Public Library, 181 Walnut St., through Dec. 22. for preschool through 12th grade. Stamps will be given on a bookmark, which allow the reader to earn candy, a cone from Dairy Queen and a selection of toys. Pick up an entry card at the library; 330-427-6635.
