Occupants flee early morning house fire
YOUNGSTOWN — Occupants escaped from a two-story house at 209 N. Lane Ave. on the city’s East Side, where firefighters said a blaze was intentionally set with an incendiary device early Monday morning.
Police reported hearing an explosion just before the fire was reported at 12:55 a.m. When firefighters arrived, the kitchen and rear exterior were ablaze. Firefighters rescued a pit bull dog from the basement.
The blaze was contained to the rear of the house, and the fire department estimated damage at $5,000 to the house and $2,000 to its contents.
