Coach: Dom Mancini

Division: I, EOWL D-I.

Last season: 7-7.

State qualifiers: Niko Graziani (sr., 160, 5th place); Nick Mancini (jr., 113).

They’re back: Nick Mancini (sr., 113, 36-9, 2-time state qualifier, 3-time EOWL champ), Joe Cordova (sr., 182, 29-14, district qualifier), Peter Ryan (sr., 126, 14-10, district qualifier as freshman and sophomore), Matt Inghram, sr., 138), Kyle Kondas (sr., 145).

Newcomers: Mario Graziani (fr., 132, 2-time OAC junior high state placer).

Season outlook: It shapes up to be a good year. Coach Mancini says Nick Mancini and Cordova are capable of winning it all. He touts Cordova as maybe the best unknown wrestler around. He says the Spartans should have “a heck of a tournament team by the end of the year.”


Coach: Dean Conley

Division: II, EOWL D-I, AAC Red Division.

Last season: 15-5.

State qualifiers: Korey Frost (113, so.).

They’re back: Korey Frost (113, jr., 30+ wins, state qualifier, sectional champ), Curtis Burns (220, 20+ wins, district qualifier), Shawn Williams (138, 20+ wins, district qualifier), Anthony Spencer (120, 20+ wins, EOWL runner-up), Jake Dunbar (126, 20+ wins), John Poullas (152, 20+ wins), Stan Socha (170, 20+ wins), Sam Conner (195, 20+ wins), Stephen Daprile (106, 20+ wins), Steven Hamilton (160), Brian Batton (145).

Newcomers: David Labra (fr., 5th in OAC middle school state tournament at 146, district champ), C.J. Frost (fr., 6th at state at 126, district champ), Jacob Esarco (fr., district champ at 209).

Season outlook: With 11 returning regulars, including nine that won 20 or more matches, the Cardinals are loaded. Add to that some help from a 17-2 middle school team that won the OAC White Division dual meet state championship.


Coach: Tony Stellato

Division: II, EOWL D-III, AAC White Division.

Last season: 10-5, EOWL D-III tournament champions. A key loss is sectional runner-up A.J. Shields.

They’re back: Mike Audi (jr., district qualifier), Bruno Spottleson (so.), Jason Velasquez (sr., 3-year letter winner), Anthony Mancini (so.); also seniors Tad Duran, Jordan Ziegler, juniors David Slepski, Joel Miller, Bill Brundage, Abe Kassem, Nick Rizzo, sophomores Anthony Morucci, Bob Murcko, John Berndt, freshman David Esarco.

Newcomers: Middle school state placer Anthony Audi and state qualifiers Dante Ginnetti, Trey Ellis and Matt Duran.

Season outlook: In its fourth year of existence the program continues to make strides. The Bulldogs return 16 letter winners and should benefit from the input of a solid freshman group.


Coach: Bill Beasom

Division: II, EOWL D-I, AAC Red Division.

Last season: The Tigers were 11-0, won a sectional title, the EOWL tournament for the second straight year, the Howland Invitational and the EOWL dual-meet championship.

State qualifiers: Gabe Stark (138, jr., 5th place), Robby Klose (145, sr.).

They’re back: Gabe Stark (sr., 40-8, 2-time district qualifier), Alex Cornicelli (sr., 30-11, 2-time district qualifier), Tyler Drass (sr., 28-14, 2-time district qualifier), Cody Davis (sr., 26-7, 2011 district qualifier), Nico Lucarelli (sr., 20-12, 2011 district qualifier), Andrew Rolfe (sr., 24-14, district qualifier), David-Brian Whisler (so., 30-11, district qualifier), Josh Grodesky (sr., 24-19, district qualifier), Aaron Jackson (so., 21-16).

Season outlook: Look for another successful season with nine district qualifiers returning. The Tigers have a wealth of experience and are preparing for the state tournament with a grueling schedule that includes the Lake Duals, the Hudson Holiday Tournament and the Tool City Tournament in Meadville, Pa.


Coach: Don Newell

Division: II, EOWL D-II, AAC White Division.

They’re back: Tyler Whitacre (195, so., district qualifier), Aiden Dudash (160, jr.), Ian Lowry (170, jr.), Anthony Mierzwa (182, jr.), Patrick Pettola (138, sr.), Shirley Flynn (106, so.), Justin Halicki (120, jr.).

Newcomers: Tyreek Daniels (hvy, fr.), Cameron Nastasi (132, fr.), Damian Sharpnack (152, jr.), Cory Ward (145, jr.), Jim Cupp (126, fr.).

Season outlook: Coming off a rebuilding season the Eagles look to a strong junior class to improve over last year.


Coach: Hadi Hadi

Division: III, EOWL D-III, AAC White Division .

Last season: 8-3 and EOWL D-III dual-meet champions. The Leopards also finished sixth in the sectional and eighth in the EOWL tournament.

They’re back: Tyrell Jethrow (152, sr., 32-9, district qualifier), Bobby Stanovcak (106, jr., 18-12, district qualifier), Cody Bucher (220, sr., 29-8), Brandon Jefferson (145, sr.), Robby Kurtz (120, sr.), Austin Weinreber (hvy, sr.), Dai’Quen Greene (126, jr.), Nick Kratas (170, jr.).

Newcomers: Jeremy Borton (106, jr.), Juwan Milhouse (113, sr.), Tarik Muse (138, jr.), Darrell McClendon (160, jr.), Patrick Sturgeon (195, so.), Aaron Hilson (182, sr.), Logan Weinreber (195, so.).

Season outlook: The Leopards are deep, especially for a D-III team, and have plenty of experience. They are looking to repeat the success of a year ago and also have strengthened their schedule.


Coach: Jim Cardiero

Division: III, EOWL D-III, AAC White Division.

Last season: 6-5. Key losses include Jacob Carpenter and Dan Johntony.

They’re back: Garrett Bass (138, sr., 16-11), Zane Chase (120, jr., 22-15), Ed Sigurani (132, jr., 19-10), Matt Deal (145, jr., 26-12), Nick Cardiero (152, jr., 21-11), James Cupan (160, jr., 28-10), Ryan Leasure (160, jr., 6-3), Steve Roviscanec (170, 15-14).

Newcomers: Robert Golden (170, jr.), Kevin McNeal (160, jr.), Tim Mazzella (220, jr.), Chris Morgan (120, fr.), Bob Dotson (132, fr.), Moufid Sayej (182, fr.), Noah Golden (195, fr.), Ben Norman (285, fr.), Sterling Nelson (285, fr.), Luke Roviscanec (160, so.).

Season outlook: As the lone senior returning, Bass is ready for a leadership role. The junior group has plenty of talent and is expected to grow into leadership positions.


Coach: Brad Harnett

Division: III, EOWL D-III.

They’re back: David Jameison (220, sr., district qualifier), Zach Jamieson (190, jr.), Shane Howells (126, jr.), Chris Bernadella (140, jr.).

Newcomers: Gavin Miglets (106, fr.), Blazer Barr (fr.), Zach Hackett (190, jr.), Corey Blystone (jr.), Josh Summerfield (so.), Brandon perl (so.).

Season outlook: First-year coach Harnett seeks to build intensity in the program during a rebuilding season.


Coach: Jason Brown

Division: II, EOWL D-II.

Last season: 11-0 with first-place finishes in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference and EOWL D-II. The Warriors also finished second in three in-season tournaments including the EOWL. West Branch loses seven seniors including sectional champ Joe Karlen and district qualifiers Clayton Bates, Aaron Page, Mike Estock and William Paynter.

State qualifiers: Connor Sharp (Jr., Hvy, 3rd place).

They’re back: Connor Sharp (Hvy, sr., 3rd at state), Donovan Anderson (126, sr., district qualifier), Kenny Faulkner (152, sr., district qualifier, Travid Pidgeon (120, so., district qualifier), Braycen Shelton (145, sr.), Tyler Pidgeon (160, sr.), Alec Schopfer (106, so.), Arek Hively (113, so.), Mason Hughes (138, so.).

Newcomers: Zach Ruggles (220, sr.), Branton Kuttler (182, jr.), Alan O’Brien (132, jr.), Logan Nagy (170, so.), Adam Wilke (195, so.).

Season outlook: Members of the team competed in numerous local postseason tournaments and also some larger, national events in an effort to get better. The seniors have provided tremendous leadership and will be the core of the team. The Warriors must continue to improve and to stay healthy.


Coach: Dave Tomaino

Division: III, EOWL D-III.

Last season: 6-7.

They’re back: Mitch Tikkanen (106, so., district qualifier), Devin Seka (120, so., district qualifier), Nick Armstrong (120, so.), Brandon Lamb (126, so.), Nick Goodlin (132, so.), Tyler Staton (138, jr.), Tyler Jeffries (138, so.), Ryan Fife (145, jr.), Adam Jeffries (152, sr.), Corley Lamb (195, jr.), Joe Conlon (220, jr.).

Newcomers: Juniors Tibisu Kegley, Dom Schmitt, Kyle Deeter, sophomores Tyler Chamberlin, Karl Sarver, Preston Friend, Chris Bailey, Brennan Dunlap, freshmen Terry Stockton, Donald Bryan, Joe Burnside, Donald Jacobs, Anthony Italiano, Brian Gordon, Tim Moon.

Season outlook: The Bluejays return just one senior but are expected to be young, dedicated and scrappy.


Coach: Chris Canale

Division: III, EOWL D-IV.

Last season: 2011-12 was the first for Columbiana wrestling with just five wrestlers.

They’re back: Juniors Noah McBride, R.J. Rankin, John Cramer.

Newcomers: Senior Jared Hill, juniors Jack Slater, Nick Delsignore, Garret Anderson, sophomores Seth Doss, Matt Weidner, Chris Jones, freshmen James Miller (middle school EOWL placer), Rob O’Malley and Jacob Hupp (middle school district placer, EOWL runner-up).

Season outlook: The Clippers are headed in the right direction with 13 wrestlers on the roster in year 2.


Coach: Jordan Williams

Division: II, EOWL D-I, AAC Red Division.

Last season: 4-4, sixth in the EOWL Tournament.

State qualifiers: Josh Henderson (113, jr.).

They’re back: Josh Henderson (113, sr., 35-5, EOWL champ, state qualifier), Ron Foster (132, sr., 30-8, district qualifier, 2011 state qualifier), Daniel Hasson (132, so., 31-11, district qualifier), Daniel Lattanzio (160, sr., 25-12, district qualifier), Jack Dawson (106, so.), Josh Barber (145, so.), Kole McKenzie (152, so.), Morley Marsden (170, jr.), Cody Green (220, sr.).

Newcomers: Junior Cody Martsolf (285), sophomores Cody Riddle (195), Clay Davis (126), freshmen Colton Bookman (106), Jason Keyes (120), Dustin Martsolf (126), Charles Knecht (160).

Season outlook: The Beaver will rely on the leadership and work ethic of returning seniors as the younger players improve. Beaver Local will push toward a strong finish in postseason tournaments.


Coach: Chad Hager

Division: II.

Last season: Placed ninth in the OVAC Tournament. Graduating seniors include Kaleb Riggle (126, 28-10, 6th OVAC) and George Thompson (285, 32-9, 6th OVAC).

They’re back: Cody Oiler (120, so., district qualifier), Frankie Williams (132, sr., district qualifier), Alex Potts (106, so.), John Miscuk (195, jr.), Mack Miller (152, sr.), Jimmy Lisk (182, jr.), Kris Bailey (145, jr.), Chad Reed (160, jr.).

Newcomers: Tim Sarge, Julius Davis, Tyler Croskey, Edward Pine, Austin Loy, Jimmy Beaver, Nick Cotter, Andrew Talbert, Cole Hamilton, Dustin Shramko. Beaver and Hamilton wrestled two years ago but not last year.

Season outlook: The Potters have the possibility of sending 3-4 wrestlers to state. Goals include high placement at the OVAC Tournament and a trip to Columbus with state placers.
