Police shoot, kill man in suburban Cleveland after 30-hour standoff

Associated Press

BRUNSWICK, Ohio

A coroner in Northeast Ohio says a man who held a 30-hour standoff with authorities died after being shot by police.

Police in Brunswick say the standoff that began Friday afternoon ended Saturday night, but they did release many details.

The coroner in Medina County tells several media outlets that the 39-year-old man was shot several times.

Police say his former girlfriend also was injured, but did not say how that happened.

Brunswick police say they got a call from the man’s brother who told them the 39 year-old was going to a home to hurt his ex-girlfriend.

Police and SWAT members surrounded the house and evacuated neighbors after finding the front door barricaded.
