Bishop ordains, installs pastor

The Rev. Rhonda M. Gallagher was ordained by Bishop Elizabeth A. Eaton of the Northeastern Ohio Synod of Evangelical Lutheran Church in America during a service Aug. 17 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 78 E. Liberty St.

Bishop Eaton also installed the Rev. Ms. Gallagher as church pastor.

Ms. Gallagher attended the University of Akron and received a bachelor’s degree in business management at Malone College. She graduated from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, where she earned a master of divinity degree.

She served her ministry in context at Martin Luther Lutheran Church and Inglesia La Trinidad, both in Canton, and was chaplain during clinical pastoral education training at Baptist Health Care in Pensacola, Fla.

She served three years as an intern, resident and minister of the Gospel at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Massillon.

Ms. Gallagher also volunteered with Servientos De Cristo, Compassion International, Via de Cristo and Kaioro’s Prison Ministries. She has been on many mission and leadership teams for spiritual retreats in the United States and India, Ecuador, Guatemala, Italy and Ukraine.

She recently finished a term serving on the Ohio Reformatory for Women advisory council, and the ABC’s Nursery program at ORW as a mentor to the mothers who were incarcerated with their children. She was on the Trumbull County Camp Advisory Council and currently serves on Northeastern Ohio Pre-release Advisory Council.

She has four adult children and five grand- children.
