Library will celebrate Hitchcock’s birthday

LEETONIA

Leetonia Community Public Library, 181 Walnut St., will celebrate director Alfred Hitchcock’s birthday. Born in 1899 in London, Hitchcock joined the film industry in 1920, producing and directing many notable and popular suspense movies.

The library will feature a film festival of his works, including “Strangers on a Train,” (PG) 1:30 p.m. Monday; “Vertigo,” (PG) 6 p.m. Aug. 15; and “North by Northwest,” (not rated) 1:30 p.m. Aug. 18. There is no cost and all are welcome. Each film will begin with an introduction and will include light refreshments and prize drawings.
