Valley mothers will join effort to break breast-feeding record

Staff report

Local moms and families will try to break a world record today. For the second year, the Mahoning Valley Moms will be at one of more than 500 locations worldwide for the Big Latch On.

The Big Latch On is an event to support, educate, and provide awareness about the importance of breast-feeding. Every year, in honor of World Breastfeeding Week, women from around the world gather to break the record for the number of women simultaneously breast-feeding.

The local event is supported by Mahoning Valley Moms and Salem-Lisbon La Leche League. Food and prizes will be given away.

The Mahoning Valley Big Latch On will be at Fair Park off Fair Street in Canfield. Fair Street intersects with South Broad Street. Participants should arrive by 10 a.m. to register and get settled in. The official count starts at exactly 10:30 and will last for one minute.

Mahoning Valley Moms also will have an informational session for the Mahoning Valley Birth Center Project and a few other local business supporters.
