Pa. state police say arson is cause of mobile home fire in New Castle

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — A mobile home fire in a Hickory Township, Pa., trailer park was deliberately set, state police in New Castle said today.

Fire departments responded to the fire at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at 145 Independence Lane in the Gaslight Mobile Home Park.

The owners came home from vacation a short time later.

The state police fire marshal ruled the fire an arson. He discovered an accelerant, police said.

Burglars stole an undetermined amount of jewelry before setting the fire, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 724-598-2211. Calls will be kept confidential.
