The Ohio Commission on Minority Health is accepting applications for Minority Health Month 2013 grants up to $3,000 to finance 2013 events. Applications are due Monday. Go to the Ohio Commission on Minority Health web site at www.mih.ohio.gov to down load an application and to view a webinar on how to complete the application.

Jameson Health System and Stryker Orthopaedics are offering a free Arthritis Joint Pain Seminar today at 6 p.m. at Jameson Rehabilitation Center, 3410 Wilmington Road.
Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Steven Hand will discuss new technologies in hip and knee replacement, surgical and non-surgical treatment options and the GetAroundKnee/¢, a new total knee replacement procedure being offered at Jameson Hospital designed to replace the knee’s naturally circular motion.

Trumbull Community Action Program, 1230 Palmyra Road S.W., is operating Summer Crisis Program through Aug. 31. Eligible applicant/households may qualify for one or a combination of an air conditioner if no air conditioner was received from TCAP in 2009, 2010, or 2011 and/or a one-time payment for their electric bill not to exceed a total maximum benefit of $250.
Appointments are available Monday through Friday. Call 1-866-747-1041. Callers must wait to receive a confirmation number to secure an appointment. Twenty walk-in applicants will be seen on Friday mornings. For all other questions call TCAP at 330-393-2507.

The Girard Health Department, 100 W. Main St., is having a well-child immunization clinic Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There is a $10 fee per child.
Parents must bring their child’s immunization record, and a parent or guardian must accompany children under 18. Pre-registration is required. Call 300-545-6048 between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Niles City Health Department, 34 W. State St., is having immunization clinics Aug. 15 and 22 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. No appointment is needed and no one will be refused service because of inability to pay.
Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. They must bring their child’s immunization records. Children should be feeling well, with no illness, fever or rash.
