McDonald board appoints treasurer

The board of education Monday appointed William A. Johnson as part-time district treasurer.

He was appointed under a three-year contract for 180 days annually at a salary of $36,000 the first year and $40,000 for the second two years.

The contract runs today through July 31, 2015.

Johnson has been serving as interim treasurer for the district since May, when he was hired for 50 days at a rate of $200 a day.

He never collected any of that money, however, he said, because he still was receiving a paycheck from Youngstown. His retirement from Youngstown is official as of today.

He had been treasurer of Youngstown City Schools since 2007.

At McDonald, he replaced former interim treasurer Lori Simeone of the Trumbull County Educational Service Center, who was named interim treasurer after the resignation of former treasurer Brian Stidham in March. Stidham left to be treasurer of Mathews schools.

Johnson resides on Ravine Drive in McDonald.

The board also accepted the resignation of Kathryn Hall as music teacher and marching band director, effective July 25.

John Anthony was hired on a one-year limited contract as music teacher and band director for the 2012-13 school year. He will make $21,121 as a teacher and $4,608 under a supplemental contract as marching band director.
