Obama re-election tour stops in Lordstown

LORDSTOWN

A group of local autoworkers thanked Barack Obama today for the president’s federal auto bailout.

Without it, they said, the Lordstown General Motors complex and several companies that supply parts for cars would be out of business.

The “Made in Ohio” stop today, organized by the president’s re-election tour, was outside the Manga Intier Seating Systems plant, a short distance from the Lordstown GM complex. Manga supplies seating parts for the Chevrolet Cruze, made in Lordstown.

This was the last of six stops through Ohio for the “Made in Ohio” campaign.

Kevin Scott, who’s worked at Manga since it opened eight years ago, said it’s likely he’d be out of a job and the plant closed if Obama, a Democrat seeking re-election, didn’t successfully push for the $82 billion bailout of GM and Chrysler in 2009.

The campaign of Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, has criticized the bailout saying Obama’s “mismanagement of the process cost the American taxpayers $23 billion.”
