Taking full advantage of the early springtime weather, students at Hilltop Elementary School celebrated the school’s annual Fun in the Sun Day April 5. The celebration of spring is held every year during each grade level’s lunch period the day before Spring Break begins.
The students were encouraged to dress in tropical clothes and accessories, as if they were going to the beach. Students dressed in brightly-colored shirts and shorts, with Hawaiian leis, sunglasses, straw hats, visors, ball caps and flowers clipped in their hair.
During the celebration, tables in the cafeteria were cleared away to make room for the students to spread out beach towels and blankets they had brought from home, which allowed them to eat a picnic-style lunch.
The PTO provided a special treat to help celebrate the day and toward the end of each lunch period, PTO volunteers passed out cookies and cream ice cream bars to each student.
After lunch, the students went outside to the playground to soak up the sun and enjoy the warm Ohio springtime weather while it lasted.
