‘Dare to Care’ day
Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. and Youngstown State University’s Williamson College of Business Administration will conduct “Dare to Care” Community Day on Friday.
The project, designed for faculty, staff and students, will converge YSU business and nonprofit leadership students in professional development opportunities and the nonprofit community. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include cleaning vacant properties, tending community gardens and painting houses.
Salem Board of Education will conduct a special meeting at 5 p.m. today in the board office to adjourn to executive session for a personnel matter or investigation of charges against an employee or official. No action will be taken.
Jackson Township trustees meet at 7:30 p.m. today at the Township Government Center, 10613 Mahoning Ave.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is having a “friendraiser” reception at 6 p.m. Wednesday at O’Charley’s Restaurant, 930 Windham Court.
The reception will allow people to meet the St. Jude staff, hear about the work of the research hospital, located in Memphis, Tenn., and learn how to get involved locally in fundraising. The late entertainer Danny Thomas founded the hospital 50 years ago. It treats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. No family ever pays St. Jude for the care their child receives.
Light appetizers will be served.
