Bus driver who collapsed during school commute dies
MILTON, Wash. (AP) — A school bus driver whose heart attack resulted with his student charges taking over the wheel has died at a hospital in Washington state.
Fife School District Deputy Superintendent Jeff Short says 43-year-old Ryan Callis of Tacoma died Wednesday evening.
Bus footage shows 13-year-old Jeremy Wuitschick rushing down the aisle to the unconscious driver and grabbing the wheel Monday morning as other students yell: “Call 911!”
Wuitschick turned off the ignition and guided the bus safely onto the curb. Students started CPR on Callis until help arrived.
Paramedics who rushed to Surprise Lake Middle School in Milton, Wash., said he suffered a heart attack.
Short says the 12 students on the bus and other drivers were offered counseling today in light of the death.

If that were youngstown city schools the kids would have thrown the driver out of the bus and road all around youngstown selling drugs.
hats off to those kids that tried to save this man.
very true, they wouldve frisked him taking his wallet and any jewlery, then rolled him out on the road and drove the bus off to strip it as well, or maybe put it up on some nice wheels...i can see it now, rolling down South Ave...
wow how ignorant can you be with your comments, i think you have youngstown city school kids mistaken with kids from boardman, canfield, and poland, who would of drove the bus to youngstown to buy drugs then lied to their naive mommies and daddies that they were kidnapped and forced into buying drugs and of couse their parents would of fell for whatever lies they told them.
Wow ! So you just want to automatically assume that kids from Y-town would do that ! How about if we just make some random assumptions on you !! Not fair guys ! You have no idea in any given situation what someone would or wouldnt do ! Your statements just showns your ignorance coming through ! Not to nice to sterio type !! I bet your parents or kids would be sooo proud to read your comments !!!!
