BOOK SALES

Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive, Boardman, will have its 56th annual used book sale from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. April 25 and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 26 and 27.

CARD, BINGO PARTIES

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 301, 3652 Oakwood Ave., Austintown, will host a bingo and card party from 2 to 5 p.m. April 22. There will be a light lunch, table and door prizes and a 50-50 raffle. Admission tickets are $5 and may be purchased by calling Betty Garhammer at 330-788-4274 or Diana Kommel at 330-799-1738.

Trumbull County Federated Democratic Women’s Club will have its annual card party from 2 to 5 p.m. April 22 in the parish hall at Christ Episcopal Church, 2627 Atlantic St. NE, Warren. CRAFT SHOWS

Saxon Club Ladies Auxiliary Branch 22 is looking for vendors for its fall craft show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Youngstown Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, Austintown. Tables may be rented for $25 through Oct. 31, when the cost will increase to $35. For information call 330-788-4274.

St. Mary’s Assumption Social Center, 356 S. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown, is seeking vendors for its Holiday Craft Show planned for Nov. 3. For information call 330-792-1578.

DANCES

Celebrity Dancers of Youngstown will present its 6th annual dance from 7 p.m. to midnight May 5 at Mahoning Country Club, 710 E. Liberty St., Girard. Music will be provided by Gregg Edwards, and there also will be door prizes, a 50-50 raffle and a basket auction. Dinner will be served at 8, and a cash bar will be available. Attire is dressy. FLEA MARKETS, YARD SALES

Salem Memorial Building Association will host an indoor yard sale and flea market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 19 in the gym. One or more 8-foot tables with chairs may be reserved for a donation of $10 each. Setup time is from 6 to 8 a.m. the day of the sale; all items are subject to approval. Stop in or mail a request for space, payable to the Salem Memorial Building, to 785 E. State St., Salem, OH 44460. For information call 330-332-5512.

Saxon Club Ladies Auxiliary Branch 22 will have a flea market April 17 at the Youngstown Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, Austintown. Doors will open at 9 a.m., and fill-a-bag for $1 starts at 1:30 p.m. Lunch will be available after noon and will include sausage sandwiches, hot dogs, sauerkraut, chicken dumpling soup, chips and beverages. There also will be a bake sale.

SALES

Grace United Methodist Church, 1725 Drexel NW, Warren, will have a Car Trunk Sale and Silent Auction from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 21. Cost to rent a space is $20 if reserved and paid before April 21; it’s $25 if paid the day of the event. Vendors keep proceeds from their sales. The event will go on rain or shine, and there will be no refunds. There will be lunch food for sale and a silent auction of many theme baskets. Bidders need not be present to win. The church will use the rental, food and auction profits for mission projects. For information call the church office at 330-395-5231 weekdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Lockwood United Methodist Church, 4570 Lockwood Blvd., Youngstown, is having a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday.

Mahoning Valley Dahlia Society annual tuber sale will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or until sold out Sunday in the Davis Center at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park. There will be no early sales. A society meeting will begin at 2 p.m. Flower-show judge Sheila Bowman will present a flower-arranging demonstration.

Southington United Methodist Church Day Circle, Routes 305 and 534, will have a rummage and bake sale from 9 am. to 4 p.m. April 18. Lunch of homemade soup, sandwiches, beverages and desserts will be served. Carryouts are available. Bag day will be from 9 to 11 a.m. April 19.

St. Rose Catholic Women’s Club will have its annual rummage and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the parish house garages, 48 E. Main St., Girard. Refreshments will be available to purchase.

Trinity Lutheran Church, 78 E. Liberty St., Girard, is having a trash and treasure sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 5 in the church basement. There also will be a bake sale. To make donations call the church office at 330-545-6210.

Wildare United Methodist Church, 7211 N. Park Ave. Ext., Champion, will have a Heavenly Trash Sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 4 and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 5. The church’s youth group is sponsoring the event, and proceeds will benefit a summer mission trip. For information call the church office at 330-637-5000.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Holy Apostles Parish-St. Stephen of Hungary Church is having a Spring Fling Bingo and Card Party, which begins at 2 p.m. Sunday in the church social hall, 854 Wilson Ave. The event is sponsored by the Altar & Rosary Society. The cost is $5 and includes a lunch and door prizes. Tickets can be purchased at the door, and there will be a special raffle and a 50-50 drawing. Security is provided. St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St. (Route 170), New Middletown, will have its annual Spring Fling at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church hall. Admission is $5, and the event will feature refreshments, bingo, cards, door prizes and raffles.

St. Rose Church is having a Ladies’ Tea and Shopping Spree from 1 to 3:30 p.m. May 6 at Rosetta Hall, 48 E. Main St., Girard. Tickets are limited and are $6 each; reservations are a must. TRIPS

Celebrity Dancers of Youngstown is planning a one- day round trip to Washington to see the new Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial and the cherry blossoms Saturday. The cost is $65 per person, and the bus will leave from Value City Department Store parking lot on Route 224 in Boardman. The bus will stop for breakfast and dinner (not included). Mineral Ridge Alumni Association Banquet Committee is sponsoring a bus trip to The Meadows Casino on April 20. The cost is $30 with bonuses of $15 in slot play and $5 in food. The bus will load at 9 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 3654 state Route 46, Mineral Ridge. It will leave at 9:30 and return there between 6:30 and 7 p.m. Advance reservations are required and are secured through payment. Checks made payable to The Mineral Ridge Alumni Association should be mailed to P.O. Box 191, Mineral Ridge, OH 44440. Proceeds will be used to defray the cost of the June 16 Alumni banquet. Trumbull County Travel Club will sponsor a wine and dine bus excursion April 21. The bus will depart from the Niles K-Mart at 9:45 a.m. Activities will include lunch and a wine taste at Luva Bella Winery in Lowellville; cheese and crackers and a wine sampling at Mastropietro Winery in Berlin Center; shopping and a wine taste at Maize Winery in Hartville; and dessert wines and chocolate at Viking Winery in Kent. Dinner (included) will be at Akron’s Spaghetti House. Return time is planned for 7:30 p.m. The cost per person is $89, and reservations can be placed at 330-369-1898 or 330-856-5398. Ten seats remain available.
