Obama denounces ‘radical’ Republican budget plan

WASHINGTON (AP) — In an election-year pitch to middle-class voters, President Barack Obama is denouncing a House Republican budget plan as a “Trojan horse,” warning that it represents “an attempt to impose a radical vision on our country” that would hurt the pocketbooks of working families. Obama, in a speech to newspaper executives, is sharply criticizing a $3.5 trillion budget proposal pushed by Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., which passed on a near-party-line vote last week and has been embraced by GOP presidential hopefuls. The plan has faced fierce resistance from Democrats, who say it would gut Medicare, slash taxes for the wealthy and lead to deep cuts to crucial programs such as aid to college students and highway and rail projects.

So let us just continue to spend money that we do not have. That is the socialist way isn't it?

There is no such thing as complete socialism, nor is there any such thing as true capitalism. Even the U.S.S.R. in its heyday had a thriving black market..What we on the right desire is to stay as close to the Constitution as possible and what the left and King Obama wants is as much reliance on the federal govt as possible, for the king and his court know whats best for all...

As a liberal/democrat tell me what is a democrat? What is a democrat's goal? How do you reach this goal?
Can you really give me an answer without name calling and throwing out canards and red herrings? You like to spout off on just about every topic on here, who about a well thought answer to my questions.
Peacelover, you can also chime in,if your capable.

So your goal in life and also for your children is to be equal to all people? You don't aspire to do better in life than people that have no ambition, no goals? You want your children to get C's in school so that they are average? Wow,you socialists really set the bar real high. We'll I hope you reach your goals and I also hope that those of us that sacrifice, take chances and invest in our futures don't have to continue to support underachievers like and your ilk. This will start to happen when we vote out the supreme socialist,Obama.

If you knew me you wouldn't be calling me punk. Also appears you're quite upset, the truth must hurt.
You don't know anything about me so just to give you hint on how wrong you are, your Harley must be worth about $450,000.00.
Based on the fact you've said in previous posts that you work in construction and that your kids walked home from school, I tend not to believe you. However, I know you could still put two kids through college and still have kids walking home from school and working construction doesn't mean you aren't a college grad, but based on your use of capital letters and overall quality of your posts,I'd say you majored in B.S.
We all know what socialism is and what it stands for and if this is want you want and that the United states should be a socialist country, then I stand by my post and I'm correct in my assessment of you. So quit your crying and quit knocking people you don't know so that you can feel superior because you're inferior. Name calling is for little kids and liberals.

1. an advocate of democracy."

There's your problem right there, we are NOT a democracy, we are a Constitutional Republic.

You might know that if you paid more attention in History class. Or maybe not as I remember quite a few Flamin' Liberal teachers and professors.

The Founders had few kind words to say about democracies and therefore did not create one.

Benjamin Franklin (1706–90)
QUOTATION: “Well, Doctor, what have we got—a Republic or a Monarchy?”

“A Republic, if you can keep it.”

“It had been observed that a pure democracy if it were practicable would be the most perfect government. Experience had proved that no position is more false than this. The ancient democracies in which the people themselves deliberated never possessed one good feature of government. Their very character was tyranny; their figure deformity.”
Alexander Hamilton June 21, 1788

"Hence it is, that democracies have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have, in general, been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths".
James Madison

We want tax cuts for those who pay income taxes.

"WE WANT TO INVADE IRAN! (which would surely raise gas even higher)."

If we drilled our own oil then we don't have to buy from furriners.

Oil companies do not get any subsidies.
You want to talk subsidies? How about 4 billion to the ethanol industry, eh?
Oil companies take whatever legitimate tax deductions they are entitled to take.
Just as any other manufacturing company.
BTW if you really did own a business, are you saying that you refused to take all of your deductions?

PS Oil company profits are on the low end of the spectrum. You want really profitable companies?
How about pharmaceuticals, computers or alcohol?

PPS you want realllly big profits?
Try Apple:

How come you guys ain't screaming about the price gouging that comes out of Cupertino California, eh?

And why isn't Obama screaming about it either?

And you want to know who makes the biggest profit on gas?

"You dont know what you want..."

We do know that you don't know Jack about what you go on about.

To quote the Gipper:

"Well, the trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so."

Interesting that you libs aren't screaming at your guy in the White House that can't even propose a budget that his own party has disowned, TWICE!
Last year it was rejected 97 to Zip!
And this year, 414 to Nada!

Anyone got any legitimate objections to Paul Ryan's budget?

Dictator Oblama is too busy telling the Supreme Court what to do, he can't be bothered with a budget.

Good post but you need some clarification. While oil companies don't get subsidized, they do get tax credits as would any other corporation in any other business, especially their foreign tax credits. The only special allowance that I know of in the drilling industry is the depletion allowance that permits an accelerated write off on well expenses.

Your explanation that this country is a constitutional republic and not a democracy is one that I keep trying to make but it falls on deaf ears. Just as the US Constitution has "enumeration of powers" that Barry Soetoro just can't seem to grasp. Thank God a 5th Circuit Court b!tch-slapped him and his Justice Dept.

Debt has increased every year since the mid-1950's. For someone who claims to have an economics background, you should have known that. And you should be able to understand the difference between debt and budget. Obviously, you are full of bs on being educated.

Clinton couldn't spend, it was an all-Republican congress!

Also, there was a budget surplus projected in 2002, but you whiney liberals conveniently forget something that happened in Sept. 2011.

By the why, the last time the debt was at 0 (in the 1800's) the country went into a depression.

But of course you studied economics in college...LOL

Walter S.:
"While oil companies don't get subsidized,"

Don't let Cambridge and his sidekick TripleT hear that as they have asserted that oil companies get untold billions in "subsidies". Of course they have nothing to say about Solyndra and other "Green" cartels getting free money from the Gub'mint.

"they do get tax credits as would any other corporation in any other business, especially their foreign tax credits."

Tax law is written by both democrats and republicans.
I'm sure that as an astute businessman, TripleT eschews any and all credits and deductions as in his mind they are "subsidies"

"The only special allowance that I know of in the drilling industry is the depletion allowance that permits an accelerated write off on well expenses."

Actually that allowance is granted to any industry involved in natural resources:
mining, timber, petroleum, or other similar industries.

"Your explanation that this country is a constitutional republic and not a democracy is one that I keep trying to make but it falls on deaf ears."

That's because the education industry is run by the NEA and fellow travelers and will ensure that the "students" will be "taught" only what is deemed to be the "correct" subjects.

If that weren't true, we would not have so many people clueless as to the history and origins of our country and what our Founding Fathers envisioned.

"Bush tax cuts (less revenue)"

Another liberal lie. Revenue from 2002 to 2007 went from 2.9TR to 4.2TR.

"This is from the Congressional budget office:
The surge in debt stems partly from lower tax revenues and higher federal spending related to the recent severe recession and turmoil in financial markets. However, the growing debt also reflects an imbalance between spending and revenues that predated those economic developments.
Thats from the CBO, not some lying BS rightwing website."

When was that written?
And where are they saying that taxes need to be raised, eh?
All they are saying is that spending that out paces revenues leads to deficits.

"Vidi, your numbers are all BS"

Go ahead, make my day, post your proof.

LOL, nincompoops! Good one, haven't heard that word in a long time. Do you really talk that way slappy? You sound like a fun guy to drink with.
I think you guys are getting bogged down and mistaken with the national debt and balanced budget. I dont have the time or desire to look this up as you guys do, but i see that the clinton years, the govt took in more than it paid out, and that was paying down the debt. So we ran a surplus till bush came in, and yes, their was still debt, but it was being paid down and would have been paid down in a few more years. Then the tax cuts when Bush took over, 9/11, iraq war, paid out more than paid in.
It seems obvious to me that if it were not for the tax cuts, we would not be in the shape we are in. Now, i know that congress, both sides are to blame also.
Those of you that have the time and desire, check that point, and am i right?
And dont get angry with me. Im a nice guy just trying to help.

Yeah that's why you and your president are talking about birth control and whether women should be allowed into Augusta.
Oh yeah, I forgot, he spent so much time on his brackets too.

"...you neo cons..."

Oh, now I'm a neo-con?

Based on what? Reading tea leaves?

We're the ones talking about the screwed up economy and screwed up health insurance situation. And how Obama is holding up oil production and giving money to companies that file for bankruptcy.

You guys are the ones going on about minutiae.

Yeah, let's have more talk about birth control and contraception.

Except that I did not get my information about taxes from Wiki, I got them from the Bureau of Economic Analysis, BEA for short.
Been going there since Clinton. You should too, might learn something.
