Pavlik: 'Everything working against Jaco'

Fresh off his first bout -- and his first victory -- in nearly a year, Youngstown's Kelly Pavlik was asked when the last time he felt this good on the day after a fight.

"Oh, it's been a little while," he said, speaking by phone Sunday afternoon from the San Antonio airport. "Just overall, it's been awhile since I felt that good in the ring.

"Everything was there. The whole package."

Pavlik (37-2, 33 KOs) earned a second-round TKO of Sarasota, Fla., native Aaron Jaco on Saturday night. Pavlik knocked Jaco down in the first round, then finished him with a left hook 45 seconds into the second round.

Pavlik will fly to Youngstown today and stay for two or three weeks, then return to California to train for his next bout, which will likely take place June 8 in Las Vegas in the main event of an ESPN2 card.

"It's pretty much a guarantee at this point," Pavlik said of the date. "It's the night before the [Manny] Pacquiao fight. Anything can happen in boxing but that's the way it's looking."
