Devin Campbell rushed 17 times for 100 yards and two touchdowns and Allen Starkey added eight carries for 69 yards and a pair of scores as the Boardman High football team rolled to its first win of the season, 35-6, over visiting Akron Hoban on Friday night.
Ryan Pollifrone completed 11 of 27 passes for 119 yards and a 5-yard touchdown to Tecokoa Irving for the Spartans (1-2), who lost close games to Cleveland Benedictine and Mooney in the first two weeks. Irving caught two passes for 59 yards and Dayne Hammond caught four for 29, while John Babos carried nine times for 57 yards.
James Dershawn carried 30 times for 131 yards for Hoban (0-3) and Dan Orsini completed 6 of 14 for 88 yards and a TD to Aaron Abernethy with 35 seconds left. Abernethy caught four passes for 82 yards.
Fitch 49, St. Mary’s 0
Will Mahone scored two rushing touchdowns and Demitrious Davis threw for 127 yards and a TD to lead Fitch (3-0) past the team from Ontario, Canada.
Tyreese Anderson (31 yards), Kyle Gumble (7 yards) and Gary Gibson (67 yards) also ran for TDs and Justin Fooks returned an interception 60 yards for a score for the Falcons, who held St. Mary’s to 115 yards.
Chris Davis scored on a 35-yard TD pass from his brother as the Falcons rolled up 335 total yards.
Brookfield 40, Jefferson 14
Jeremy Quinlan rushed for 210 yards and passed for 54 more for the Warriors (3-0). His touchdowns covered 85 and 59 yards.
Colin Harkulich caught a 14-yard scoring pass while Mike Johnson scored on runs covering 4 and 9 yards. Ryan Mosora ran for 190 yards including a 92-yard touchdown.
Johnny Knight returned a kickoff 75 yards for Jefferson.
Crestview 34, East Liverpool 7
Nick Blower rushed 13 times for 201 yards and a 61-yard touchdown for the Rebels (2-1). Also scoring touchdowns were Matt Hardenbrooke, Craig Lower, Dimitri Gregory and Collin Gilbert.
Adam Coppock completed three of seven passes for 68 yards, including a 30-yard scoring toss to Gregory.
Jimmy Neville scored for the Potters (0-3) on a 6-yard run. Derek Thompson rushed 25 times for 67 yards. Jon Weyand completed 9 of 17 passes for 124 yards.
Leetonia 26, Mathews 14
Cody Stokes scored three times — twice on short runs and a third time on a 19-yard pass from R.J. Pacella — for Leetonia.
Stokes completed 5 of 7 passes for 98 yards for the winners (2-1). One of his passes was a 37-yard TD to Pacella.
Craig Hunt and Joe Siefert had the touchdowns for Mathews (1-2). Hunt had 21 carries for 104 yards, while Siefert picked up 45 yards on 10 attempts for the Mustangs.
