WYTV announces news-anchor team

Staff report

The new weekday afternoon and evening news-anchor team for WYTV-TV 33 will be Stan Boney on news, Paul Wetzel on weather and Chad Krispinsky on sports.

“These three together create a news team of experience,” said Gary Coursen, news director for 33 News.

The trio will handle the 5:30, 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts Monday through Friday. After 30 years of doing the weather, the past three doubling as the news anchor, Stan Boney now will focus solely on the news. Boney, who has been with WYTV since 1979, also will continue to host the weekly high-school quiz-bowl show “Academic Challenge.”

Myvalleyweather.com meteorologist Paul Wetzel is a 1993 graduate of United Local High and received his meteorology degree from Mississippi State University. He moves to WYTV weekdays from WKBN-TV 27, where he had been the weekend meteorologist since 1998.

Myvalleysports.com anchor Chad Krispinsky is a 1996 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School. He also is moving over from WKBN, where he was the play-by-play announcer for the MyYTV Game of the Week and YSU football since 2005.
