OSHP seizes $100K of suspected cocaine on Ohio Turnpike

Published: Mon, October 24, 2011 @ 4:28 p.m.

ELYRIA, Ohio — Two men from New York face felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized a kilo of suspected cocaine valued at $100,000 during a traffic stop Friday on the Ohio Turnpike.

Troopers stopped a 2011 Kia Optima after a traffic violation about 12:20 p.m. Criminal indicators were observed and a patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed the kilo of cocaine.

Clifton Hamilton, 36, and Taddeus Remington, 23, both of Niagra Falls, N.Y., were charged with possession of cocaine and trafficking in cocaine, both first-degree felonies.

The suspects were incarcerated in the Lorain County Jail. If convicted, each could face up to 20 years in prison and a $40,000 fine.

Smart man, Samlam. Might as well stop the violence and reap a windfall in tax revenue.
