Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN
St. Elizabeth Health Center has begun work on a $520,000, 2,000-square-foot renovation project.
The project, at the main St. E’s building, 1044 Belmont Ave., will expand the hospital’s pre-surgery and secondary recovery areas.
With the addition, that part of the hospital will now total 5,129 square feet.
The renovation was necessary to accommodate more patients, said Tina Creighton, spokeswoman for Humility of Mary Health Partners.
Creighton said money for the project came out of the capital-improvement fund; no grants or special funding was used.
Work is expected to be completed in early 2012.

Smart business people in charge here. They deserve to be commended for such an outstanding job in investing in their infrastructure and employees. Good job!
SO WHAT WAS UP WIT THEM NOT WANTING TO RECIEVE PATIENTENCE IN EMERGENCY LAST NIGHT UNLESS THEY WERE PREGNANT, OR GOING IN ICU. ST. E'S IS OFF THE FREAKIN HOOK. I FORGOT IT IS AROUND HALLOWEEN TIME.
It is nice to see that St. Ez is remodeling their "Downtown" hospital. But maybe their should have taken a few more moments and looked into their ER department. The wait time is ridiculious. Either the staff is extremely slow or the department needs to be expanded and upgraded to accept more patients and run at a quicker pace.
