Obama observes Veterans Day with Arlington rites

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — President Barack Obama is marking Veterans Day at Arlington National Cemetery by helping to place a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns.

The president and first lady Michelle Obama stood in silence as taps was played outside the tomb on a sunny but chilly autumn morning.

Obama is also speaking at Arlington’s Veterans Day observance before heading to San Diego for a holiday basketball game aboard the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson. The first-ever Carrier Classic pits Michigan State against No. 1 North Carolina on board the ship docked in San Diego.

11 / 11/ 11.

Gratitude and Appreciation to Our Soldiers & Heroes!

This Veteran's Day, we honor those who have so bravely served this great country.

Let's take a sacred moment to remember those who sacrifice their lives every moment to achieve peace and democracy.

Let's pay our respects not just to the soldiers who died for our country, but also to the soldiers of the world who did and do their job courageously.

I don't need 11-11-11 to remind me that America will always be number one in my heart...the land and the people that I love. Problem is, America used to work. The people had work. The system worked. Hey, EVEN the Congress used to work...(sometimes). God knows, it was far, far, far from perfect - but at least we all had some share in the struggles AND the rewards. But somewhere along the way, we lost our way. And now we seem to have an economy and a political system that works only for the rich. What they call "trickle down economics"... just leaves most of us out in the cold cold rain. We need to get back to what America was, and what it should be, and what it can be. Occupy Wall Street is no longer just a place called Zuccotti Park - Zuccotti Park is everywhere. You can try to pen us in, you can beat us and arrest us, you can mace and tear-gas us , and you can try to "permit" us to death....but you can't kill an idea. You can't keep down a people’s hopes and dreams for a better life.....a life with dignity and freedom....for us... for our kids. More power to Occupy Wall Street, as it spreads to every town and city - because OWS is us, and for us, and by us. It comes up from the grassroots, and it lifts us up in turn. With OWS America has found it’s voice, and that voice demands fairness and justice. This land IS our land! AND WE WANT IT BACK! We want our lives back! We want our future back! So why not take some time, find a quiet place somewhere, and consider this: Each of us has only one brief life...one chance...and many choices. It’s time to choose...and to act. If not now...then when? If not you, then... who? You DO have the power my friend....and the choice is yours.

Why have we no jobs in this country because the fat cat industrialists sent our jobs to China, Mexico and India where the basic wage is just enough to keep them alive.
This is where our Industrialists make more money and more bonuses so they can buy their second home in the Hamptons, go Sking in Val D'esire, pay $1000 plus for seats at a dinner for Repulican and Democrat fund raisers to keep their options open. They call themselves Americans and patriots I don't think they are for America and certainly not patriots. Patriots support their own country they don't send our jobs overseas..

This land IS our land! AND WE WANT IT BACK!
So "Stanchaz" writes We seem to have given a lot of it away to the Saudi and Chinese Investors.
The News Media to the Austrailian Rupert Murdoch "Fox News" and just how many so called American Newspapers are owned by News International another Murdoch company. Do we want an Austrailian tycoon telling us what to think. They slant the news the way he wants. I don't think the British realised just what went on with Murdoch and their last goverment. Its all coming out now but no mention on Fox News , I wonder why.
If our dead veterans knew what has happened to this great country they would be turning in their graves.
