Canfield defeats Mooney

The Canfield girls soccer team defeated Cardinal Mooney 1-0 in an OHSAA Division II District Championship match on Oct. 31. Junior Hannah Day headed the ball in off a corner kick for the game’s only score early in the second half.

Canfield clinic set

The second annual Cardinal Basketball Youth Skills Academy will be open to all Canfield fifth and sixth-grade boys interested in playing basketball for the 2011-2012 season. The first night of the event will be Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Canfield High School gymnasium. Cost is $30 per participant and includes the cost of the jersey and a pizza party on the last evening of the academy. For more information, contact Todd Muckleroy at tmuckleroy@canfieldschools.net. East Ohio Volleyball

Tryouts will be held for the East Ohio Volleyball Club on Nov. 13 and 20 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Warren YMCA, 210 High Street, Warren.

YMCA offers Fall Youth Sports Program

The Fall Youth Fundamental Basketball League kicks has begun. The league runs through Dec. 17 and is open to boys and girls ages 4 to 15. Registration fees are $48 for YMCA members and $68 for all others.

The YMCA is also offering a Fall Sunday Team “Select” Basketball League. This league will conclude with a league tournament on Dec. 18. The “Select” league is open to boys in fourth, fifth and sixth grade and girls in fifth and sixth grade. Registration fees are $42 for YMCA members and $57 for all others.
