Mercer County man dies in car accident while fleeing from police

HERMITAGE, Pa. — A Mercer County man was killed after he crashed while fleeing a hit-and-run accident, police said.

Joshua Castia, 25, whose last known address was listed on Fairview Road, Fredonia, Pa, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident around 7:30 p.m. Sunday on Robertson Road.

Police said they were dispatched to a hit-and-run on East State Street near Robertson. A car was rear-ended in that accident, and no one was injured.

Police said Castia drove off at a high speed, passing a police officer who turned around to follow him.

Castia lost control of the car near Cassady Road, police said. The car hit a ditch and rolled over into a field. Castia was thrown from the car.
