Tressel’s wife to receive award from Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The wife of head football coach Jim Tressel has scored an honor from Ohio State University for her work on behalf of the school and the community.

The university announced today that Ellen Tressel will be presented with a Distinguished Service Award at its winter commencement on Sunday.

Ohio State says in a statement that she has been both a driving force and a generous supporter in fundraising to renovate the university’s main library and expand facilities at Ohio State Medical Center. The news release also notes that Tressel serves on the boards of several organizations, including the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Center for Child and Family Advocacy and the West Ohio United Methodist Conference.
