Neighborhood development group gets Youngstown Foundation grant

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Foundation is giving $24,929 to the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. to purchase a 26-by-48-inch polycarbonate greenhouse with a ventilation and cooling system for its urban farm.

The location of the farm hasn’t been determined by the YNDC, a neighborhood development organization.

The urban farm will expand the organization’s ability to train city residents in market gardening techniques, encourage business creation on vacant land and train community gardeners, said Presley L. Gillespie, YNDC’s executive director.
