Boys track team competes in Columbus

The Boardman boys track team sent a handful of runners to the Arnold Classic High School Indoor Open Track Meet March 5 at French Fieldhouse on the campus of The Ohio State University.

The meet was a part of the weekend-long ‘Arnold Classic’ that celebrated sports, fitness and nutrition. Schwarzenheger himself appeared at the meet and spoke to all of the athletes and coaches.

Highlighting the Spartans success at the meet was junior Devin Campbell, who finished third in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.14 seconds.

This weekend, Campbell will compete at the Nike Indoor National Championship Meet in New York City.

Senior Eddie Adu-Poku placed seventh in the mile with a time of 4:35. Junior Allen Starkey placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 9 inches. Senior Clayton Finch finished 14th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.91.

The indoor track team will next compete at Oberlin College on Sunday.
