Farmers National declares dividend

The bank has 17 locations in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties.

Retailer relocates

Rue21 has opened in a new location in the Southern Park Mall.

The clothing and accessories store opened Thursday next to its former location near Sears. It made the move for more space, said Sheryl Raulin, the mall’s director of marketing.

The Warrendale, Pa.-based retailer has more than 650 locations in 44 states.

Allegra available without prescription

Just in time for allergy season, one of the most-reached-for medications now is available without a prescription for about half the cost.

This move can mean big savings to consumers who had been paying $45 to $60 for a month’s supply of Allegra.

In 2009, doctors and nurse practitioners wrote more than 20 million prescriptions for Allegra in the United States, according to Carrie Brown, spokeswoman for Sanofi-Aventis, the company that makes the drug.

Chain pharmacies began selling Allegra last week over the counter for $19.99 to $24.99 for a 30-day supply.

“For those consumers that need the drug, it increases access from a price standpoint,” said Ernest E. Boyd, executive director of the Ohio Pharmacists Association.

“Once the drug goes [over the counter], there’s competition among the chains as to who’s going to get to the bottom of the price. That thing is going to drop.”

Allegra is one of the allergy drugs doctors prescribe. For many patients, it’s the only medicine that works.
