Kravitz's Corned Beef Challenge kicks off Friday

Published: Wed, March 9, 2011 @ 11:53 p.m.

This St. Patrick’s Day, the new Kravitz Deli inside Poland Library has issued the "711 Corned Beef Challenge” to the original Kravitz Deli in Liberty, with a kickoff party beginning at 5 p.m. Friday at the Lemon Grove, downtown Youngstown.

Whichever location sells the most corned beef this week can decide which charity receives the $250 pot of gold.

The Poland site picked Hospice of the Valley, while the Liberty

location went with the Stambaugh Auditorium renovation fund.

Jack Kravitz, president of Kravitz Delicatessen, said he will double the pot if the locations together sell more than 7,000 pounds of corned beef.
